Still making little highlight videos of fun adventures, when I’m not focused on just photography or writing.
Though this adventure with my best friend took place in July, I made a video of our trip for her birthday a couple of weeks past… and now I’m finally posting to Producers in Pink.
Key West. Cuba. Cozumel. Royal Caribbean knows how to plan a cruise! Key West had the most beautiful views and our first morning I watched the ship pull up to port and dock and couldn’t wait to get off and walk the quiet, very touristy, beautiful streets to reach the most southern point in the continental US. The cool part there was learning that Hemingway lived in Key West- we got to see his house briefly- and when we moved onto Cuba day 2, we learned that he actually wrote Old Man and the Sea in Cuba. We saw the hotel he used to stay at during his time in Cuba and there were even photos of Hemingway and Chavez shaking hands on the wall of the hotel in Cuba.
Cuba also offered a walking tour of Old Havana. And though it was HOT, HOT, HOT, it was worth it to capture an essence of how Cuba is rebuilding its infrastructure, hotel and restaurant industry, and training its young people on how to work for themselves and live slightly more independent lives than their parents.
On our tour we stopped in a little cafe with live musica Cubana for a rum, coffee, and cigar tasting, where I learned how to cut the tip of the cigar and about the different grades of Cuban cigars.
Cozumel was filled with sunshine and water adventures where we snorkeled and swam, and played a game of “chicken” with our new Australian friends from the ship. The glass bottom kyack could have been my favorite, paddling along the coast before drinks on the beach and our return to the ship.
Loved the sun, heat, dancing, nighttime shows, pool deck, excursions, and good talks and laughs with my bestie in between it all. ❤
OH! And one last super interesting fact… I heard that Empress of the Sea, the ship we cruised on with Royal Caribbean, was actually in retirement for 30 years. They took her out of retirement and cleaned her up when Cuba opened up for cruises because she is a smaller ship and can more easily be docked at their port. Interesting right?
Story through video is one of the best (I may be a bit biased as a Producer). This quick edit shows my first day out this season skiing with my little brother- though you don’t see how dang cold we were, nor the sibling rivalry fight, or good convos that made it all worth it!!!
But that’s why I love Producing so much! I get to remember my day like this video and ignore the fact that my toes were purple by nightfall!
WPSU Sports 2016 Mini Reel. Working in sports and making Football and Basketball shows. And producing edits like these…
What I love about working on a broadcast TV show in sports is that even though people may know the outcome of the game, you can choose a shot, or music, or nat sound that inspires the fans and takes viewers to the grit of the moment for athletes. #Unrivaled #Unlocked #WeAre
The best stories are #love #stories! I’m honored to post this #wedding video for my dear friend Fenny and her new husband David! Not only did I get to #film the event, but I was also IN the wedding! The #video project was a last minute idea on my end to give an extra gift to the #bride and #groom as I captured little moments throughout the day. As I was in the wedding, I was not able to capture video during the bridal party photos and ceremony. All photograph images belong to Sarah Kriner Photography.
Filmmaker Pearl Gluck works with actors Pearl Regina Westerviller and James Gagne, Jr. on location for her new film, “The Turn Out.”
Another inspiring woman I know from Penn State, Pearl Gluck is producing a film on trafficking, this time from a mans perspective as the main character. Listen to more on the podcast by WPSU and hear what is happening all around us, and about the film.
Human Trafficking is something I found out about when I was in 10th grade, and I could never really shake it. It’s so cool to see people… women… Zoe Saldana stepping up in their gifts and careers, like film production, to make a difference in the lives of boys, girls, and women getting trafficked around the world!!
